Appreciated Personalities / Clarence “Lush” Lushbaugh, MD, PhD

Clarence “Lush” Lushbaugh, MD, PhD, conducted research for the Atomic Energy Commission in 1952.  His work had a profound impact on Glycoscience but he did not live to see the results.

Lush, as he liked to be called, entered his PhD program in pathology in the 1940s with his thesis on the effect of alcohol on the resistance of rabbits to pneumococcus pneumonia.  In 1949, he became a pathologist at the Los Alamos Medical Center in New Mexico and a staff member in the Biomedical Research Group of the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory.

Dr. Lushbaugh was a pathfinder in forensic pathology.  He studied the rate of body cooling to use in estimating the time of death and published a report of his findings in a law-enforcement publication that became known as the Lushbaugh method.  He authored or coauthored more than 150 scientific papers and book chapters.  Today, you evidence his work in the CSI forensic TV series.

The Atomic Energy Commission was seeking a solution to radiation dermatitis in humans.  Dr. Lushbaugh conducted research on experimental animals with his focus on biochemical changes in irradiated skin.  Rabbits seemed to hold great interest to him and his work with rabbits would hold a secret for nearly two decades.

In 1952, having become internationally known as an authority on radiation accident victims, he tested Aloe Vera on rabbits with six beta radiation burns.  He placed fresh Aloe Vera on two of the burns, week old Aloe Vera on two of the burns, and the other two burns were the control burns that received no treatment.  To his amazement, the two beta radiation burns treated with fresh Aloe Vera healed completely like fresh rabbit pink skin.  The two burns treated with the week old Aloe Vera did no better than the two control burns that received no treatment.

The Atomic Energy Commission was looking for something they could store in bomb fall-out shelters to treat people with atomic radiation burns.  Dr. Lushbaugh found it, but could not preserve it.  More than thirty-five years later, Dr Bill McAnalley, after reading Lush’s report, was attempting to discover what was the functional component, thinking it was a protein.

One day, almost on a whim, Dr. McAnalley placed some fresh Aloe Vera in a microwave and “nuked” it.  The message the “nuked” Aloe delivered to Dr. McAnalley was that the functional component was, indeed, not a protein, but a carbohydrate, a sugar.  He knew if the functional component were a protein, it would have been destroyed by the microwave.  But, it was not destroyed.  It was still functional.  Because the beta-mannan molecule was a sugar, the medical world scoffed at the discovery of a “beneficial sugar pill”.  Medical scientists, steeped in pharmaceutical education, could not accept the fact that a sugar had any functionality other than for storing energy.

It has been a long time coming; but today, the mainstream medical community is beginning to grasp the profound validity of Glycoscience.  Over half a century after Dr Lushbaugh’s paper, Glycomics is the new frontier of medical science.  Dr. Lushbaugh died at age 84 on October 13, 2000 from Alzheimer’s disease.

Viruses are the greatest example of evil personified. A virus is worse than a parasite which simply feeds on and lives off of another life.  A virus is powerless on its own and, like a parasite, attaches itself to another life form.  The virus can speak cell language.  It communicates with cell signals.  Unable to reproduce on its own, the virus signals this message to the host cell, “Don’t reproduce yourself.  Reproduce Me!  Here is my DNA.  Accept it as your own.”

The targeted host cell can accept the DNA of the virus.  In doing so, it loses its ability to reproduce itself and reproduces a copy of the virus.  Reprogramming the DNA of another cell is the only way that a virus can propagate.  The deceptive virus is at war with us and scientists agree that it is the one single greatest threat for annihilation of the human race.

When the human host cell is weak, it has no choice but to heed the voice of the enemy.  When the human host cell is strong, healthy, and supported with a viable immune system, it automatically and instinctively rejects the virus.  The alarmed cell makes at least two immediate responses (cell calls if you will).  1) “Don’t even think about docking your deceiving viral vessel in this harbor.  My receptor sites are loaded and there is no room for you.”  2) By cell to cell communication the endangered cell sends an alert signal to summon the mother of all big eaters, the macrophage.

The macrophage (Greek for big eater) is a powerful warrior against toxins and infections but in human bodies with poor immune systems, they are hard of hearing and less active.  The macrophage is a type of white blood cell that disables and ingests foreign invaders of the body.  A macrophage is usually immobile and loosely connected to blood vessel walls.  They are both a nonspecific defense system for a good immune system and specific defense when needed for a specified purpose, like this deadly virus.

The macrophage is battle ready and silently awaiting the command.  The macrophage is awakened by the cry of a healthy cell in trouble.  With an amazing complex and harmonious coordination, the macrophage recognizes, attacks, and removes the virus and other invading particles.  When needed, the macrophage marches in lock-step with another white blood cell, the helper T-cell to provide protection to the body.

When the cell to cell communication is operating properly, the macrophage may come alone or summon an army to the battle.  One macrophage can battle and devour 100 bacteria.  I do not yet know the troops needed for viral battles but we have seen some amazing battles won.

A virus can dock on a cell surface if the glycoprotein receptor sites are sparse.  The cell is healthy when the glycoproteins cover the cell like thick fuzz on a peach.  Specific Smart Sugars are not only the building blocks for a good immune system, they construct the Operating System of the body for all communication.  That is really important when you need a macrophage.

Top Secret GMO Grain Research Just Released

[This 2 year research program was conducted in top secret in France because of fear of sabotage from Monsanto. Phone contacts were disallowed and encrypted emails and a decoy study were used to prevent subversion.  Now there are desperate attacks by Monsanto on the credibility of the study and those who did it.]

A new study discovers a human ticking time bomb that purportedly could maim and kill millions of people.  According to a new French rat study, GMO grains are manifesting into a growing eruption of new ailments doctors have never seen before.  US production of corn is 80% GMO and soybean is 93% GMO.

This is the first ever lifelong feeding program to evaluate health risks from GMO food says a published paper.  The study shows organ failure and lethal tumors resulting from GMO corn (maize). Engineering a Genetically Modified Organism is man’s manipulation of a host DNA with a foreign or synthetic gene designed to create a new breed or subspecies. Motivation for such science is normally profit.  Plants may be engineered to increase crop yield and produce insecticide and herbicide within the seed.  Science gone wild is manifesting bizarre deadly consequences for animals and humans. Glyphosate (Roundup), the poison grown in the grain, continues to harm animals and humans that have consumed foods made from the corn.

This study explains why GMO damage has not yet peaked in humans.  Flaunted short-term studies have falsely shown GMO grains to be safe for humans and animals.  Previous short-term studies conceal what happens next.  Comparing rat years to human years, makes the human equivalent for the rat study about 28 years.  In the French rat study, damage was not very evident during the first 90 days (equivalent to about 4 human years).  The first large detectable tumors did not occur until month 4 into the study.  After that initial period and over the following 21 months (24½ human years) came the vital organ damage and massive tumors.  Some tumors grew to 25% the size of the rats.

Today’s children may be the first generation to not outlive their parents.  Was this prediction triggered by sickness and diseases in children who have consumed GMO foods for the past few years?  Are we in the early stages of glyphosate (Roundup) damage in humans?  Many people in the US have been eating GMO foods for nearly a decade.  20 human years is about 2/3 of the way through this rat experiment.  Some healthcare professionals believe that we haven’t seen anything yet compared to health challenges we will see in the next few years.

Here is a pathway that may help address GMO damage. David Busbee, PhD, Texas A&M University Department of Agriculture Genetics and Toxicology (now  retired) presented research at our Glycomic Medical Conference that showed certain plant polysaccharides (Smart Sugars), including the sugar mannose, can correct altered gene expression and help reduce the toxic effects.

Pathway out of the toxic maize (corn):
Step one:  Stop eating GMO foods.  This may not be easy because GMO products are used in many foods and animal feeds in the US.  Look for organic and Non-GMO products.  The voice of the public is demanding that more companies label their products to read: May contain some GMO ingredients or Certified Non-GMO.

Step Two:  Counteract the GMO effects which may damage the immune system and vital organs.  Only a well-modulated immune system can remove both the toxins and inflammation out of the body!  Certain Smart Sugars, especially the sugar mannose, modulates the human immune system and may equip it to remove glyphosate and repair the damage when caught early on.  More research is merited.  Meanwhile, there is great disagreement between countries whether they allow or block the sale of GMO grains.

Cognitive decline is our #1 health concern.  The greatest fear of aging is not dying but losing mental performance.  Another US Baby Boomer becomes 65 every 8 seconds.  Meanwhile, on the other end of the age scale, 3 to 4 million children are added to the cognitive decline list and mental meltdowns are common for all ages.

The two fastest growing areas of concern in health is mental sharpness and Alzheimer’s.  From 2006 to 2010 concern increased by 10% for mental sharpness and 14% for Alzheimer’s.

Big Pharma has targeted the cognitive challenged for a lifestyle change with mind altering drugs that often compounds the problem and produces addicts.

Retaining mental sharpness, or better yet, gaining more mental clarity is my objective.  63% of adults over 55 years of age are extremely or very concerned about simply maintaining their mental abilities.*

Unexpected news is that concerns about anxiety, depression, and mood swings is shifting to much younger adults.** I contribute these growing concerns within the younger population to the faster pace, instant gratification, and emotional instability.

Over 1/3 (36%) of the adults 50+ are coping with or attempting to manage declining mental energy.  Improving mental performance includes mental sharpness, clarity, memory, speed of recall, and concentration.  Improved mental energy provides greater ability to overcome stress, anxiety, and mood swings.

There are big disagreements about how age effects IQ.  IQ testing is far from perfect.  I have jokingly said that if certain factors were built into IQ testing, many would have a minus 0 score.  “Pray tell, how would you do that?” you say.  Oh, like, “How many times in the past week have you become angry at an inanimate object?”  Getting angry at others or animals would also earn demerits.  Speed is a factor used for IQ.  One person may solve problems faster and be determined to have a “higher IQ”.  On the other hand, a person with a “lower IQ” may be unable to solve many problems fast; but, can solve “impossible problems” that no one else had ever solved.  I could have made a higher IQ test score had I studied for the test.  If you didn’t get the joke, you didn’t study for your IQ test either.

There are many contributing factors that impact mental performance that may not be brain function at all.  Perhaps dysfunctional senses distort perception.  One or more of your senses of sight, sound, smell, savor, or sensuality (touch) is operating below normal.  Consequentially, all of the facts are not in for evaluation.

Millions are looking for a real functional cognitive enhancement in all the wrong places.  Your brain is probably not deficient of any pharmaceutical drug.  I can assure you that all of our bodies and brains can benefit from more natural super foods including Smart Sugars.

Smart Sugars harvested from plants (are some of the same sugars found in mother’s breast milk that) work in adults to enhance mental abilities.

One study I reported previously was about some 14,000 babies where half were randomly assigned to a group in which prolonged and exclusive breast-feeding by the mother was encouraged at Belarussian hospitals and clinics.  The mothers of the other babies received no special encouragement.

At 3 months, 73 percent of the babies in the breast-feeding encouragement group were breast-fed, compared to 60 percent of the other group.  At 6 months, it was 50 percent versus 36 percent.  In addition, the group given encouragement was far more likely to give their children only breast milk.  The rate was seven times higher at 3 months.

The children were monitored for nearly 6½ years.  The children in the group where breast-feeding was encouraged scored about 5% higher in IQ tests and did better academically, the researchers found.  Other studies indicate brain development and intelligence benefits for breast-fed children.  Evidence also showed that their college grades were superior.

This Report is about a nameless blind mouse in the US, Judith, a blind lady in Canada, and two color blind men.  The mouse sees, the men got color sight, and Judith has a driver license.

The mouse had some vision restored with prosthetic technology and Judith’s vision was restored with Smart Sugars and nutrition that supported metabolic functions necessary for retinal pigment epithelium.

Judith’s diagnosis was diabetic retinopathy in 1986. She had cataract surgery in both eyes, maximum laser surgeries, vitrectomy in both eyes, and was still blind.  After 17 months of using Smart Sugars, she regained her eyesight and her retinas have not hemorrhaged since 1999.  Today, her sight is 20/100 and 20/40. Coming back from no sight to 20/100 after experiencing severe corneal breakdown, give Judith belief that her sight will get even better.  In optimism, she traded her white cane for a white car and now travels even out of the country.

Blindness and visual impairment are caused by macular degeneration or retinal degeneration or retinal tear causing the light to be blocked or the signals to the brain to malfunction.  Macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in adults with an estimated twelve million people.

Retina is the part of the eye that converts light into electrical impulses to the brain.  At the back of the retina is a light-sensitive tissue that contains photoreceptor cells (rods and cones) and neurons that are connected to a neural network for processing the visual images.   The macula is the center part of the retina.  There is no known cure for retinal or macular degeneration diseases.

The rods function in low illumination and the cones are responsible for color vision and visual tasks like reading.  The rods are mainly located in the peripheral area of the retina while the cones are mainly located in the macula.

I have also documented two men who were color blind, Harvey and Shawn.  Both men began seeing color because of super food nutritional support including Smart Sugars.  Shawn stopped eating the Smart Sugars and his vision returned to black and white.  He will be experimenting again to see if he has the color return.  I see no logical reason why the sugar Trehalose will help, but we are starting him on that sugar first.

The blind mouse research was published in the August 13, 2012 Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.  The scientists claim to have cracked the code that the retina uses to communicate with the brain.

The prosthetic retinal implant in the US mouse was accomplished by electrically stimulating cells in the back of the eye enabling signals to be transmitted as visual information to the brain.  Blindness had resulted from damaged photoreceptor cells while the ganglion cells remained intact so the neurons could transmit signals to the brain.

The study’s lead author, Sheila Nirenberg, a neuroscientist at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York said, “What this shows is that we have the essential ingredients to make a very effective prosthetic.”  Researchers have not yet tested the prosthetic on humans but have assembled the code for monkeys.

My hypotheses: The cause for vision returning to Judith and black and white vision becoming color vision for Harvey and Shawn, was human stem cell proliferation and nutritional support necessary for metabolic functions for vision.

We have previously documented stem cell proliferation in the human body stimulated by oral consumption of certain plant polysaccharides (Smart Sugars).

I never met the mouse in this Report, but I personally know Judith, Harvey, and Shawn and have interviewed them and documented the evidence.  Like many who consume certain plant sugars, to Judith, Harvey, and Shawn, the results are evidence based.

Chemotherapy can increase cancer growth by damaging the DNA of nearby healthy cells.  Researchers found "evidence of DNA damage" in healthy cells after chemotherapy treatment. Scientists recently published this report in Nature Medicine.

Cancer cells metabolize sugar differently than do healthy cells.  Cancer cells cannot absorb oxygen like healthy cells and it is this low oxygen level that proves to be the key factor in cancer growth.

Most cells and most proteins in blood are glycosylated; that is, they are coated with sugars.   This coating of glycoprotein receptor sites form the operating system (OS) for your cells and the body communication system including translating and transcribing DNA.

The damaged DNA excites the healthy cells to secrete a protein that sustains tumor growth and cause resistance to further chemotherapy.  The damaged DNA requests WNT16B protein which is then used to boost the cancer cell survival.

Other studies have shown that fermentation of sugar, because of lack of oxygen, allows the cancer cells to lose all beneficial function.  Cancer with the highest fermentation rate has the highest growth rate producing only putrid toxic waste because the cell cannot metabolize further without oxygen.

The WNT16B study was seeking to explain why cancer cells are so easy to kill in the lab, yet so resilient inside the human body.  Healthy tissue collected from men with prostate cancer showed evidence of DNA damage following chemotherapy.  The team confirmed and then reconfirmed their findings with breast and ovarian cancer tumors. Co-author of the study, Peter Nelson of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle stated, "The increase in WNT16B was completely unexpected."  These findings were "completely unexpected".

Nelson explained, "WNT16B (protein), when secreted, would interact with nearby tumor cells and cause them to grow, invade, and importantly, resist subsequent therapy."

Tumors often respond well with chemotherapy initially; but, is normally followed by rapid regrowth, prior to developing resistance to further treatment.  Oncologists know this danger; but now they know why: the WNT16B protein.

Cancer cells crave sugar.  Sugars that are easy to ferment feed cancer while some Smart Sugars resist cancer and build a powerful immune defense system.

My hypotheses is that cancer cells “mow down glycoproteins ” on the surface of neighboring cells, thus weakening or killing their signaling capabilities.  This reverse glycosylation (stripping away the glycoprotein receptor sites) leaves the cell naked and defenseless, unable to summon help to correct the situation.  It cannot receive the proper care and feeding, so cancer spreads as it produces a more acid/toxic environment.

Smart Sugars coat healthy cells like fuzz on a peach; however, cancer cells are depleted of glycoproteins.  Healthy cells have a forest of glycoproteins while cancer cells are void of this living forest.

The future of medicine and healthcare is in evaluating glycoproteins by literally counting and determining the quality of these receptor sites.  Medical science will gather worlds of data through the soon to be Gold Standard of medical diagnostics to determine if the cells are healthy, bald, or balding.  I discuss this in my Smart Sugars Lesson #24 Glycomics Cancer Diagnostics - How it will work!

The age-old question is: “Is the glass half full or half empty?”  Is that really important?  Just fill the glass!”   Do we treat the cancer, enable the cancer, or prevent the presence of cancer simply by growing more glycoprotein receptor sites.  We now have scientific evidence that oral consumption of Smart Sugars can and do improve glycosylation in the human body.

Could help improve ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s

It’s an exciting adventure to make a discovery of uncharted territory.  I know the feeling.

New technological possibilities allow us to make discoveries today that yesteryear were unthinkable.  An uncharted part of the brain is now ready to be mapped.  Perhaps I should use the word “traced” instead of “mapped” because the river was there all along.  We just did not know it carried fluid.
 
What a thrill it was for me as a teenager in the 1950s to discover an uncharted waterfall in one our country’s largest caves, Marvel Cave at Branson, Missouri.  I organized a spelunking expedition where we transcended beyond the giant cathedral room and off the tourist path.  We scaled down a deep crevasse and floated to the other side of an underground lake were we witnessed the waterfall and saw various species of fish and translucent crawling life forms that had never seen the light of day.

Neuroscientists have just explored something far more surprising and significant than an uncharted waterfall in a giant cave.  This historic discovery is an uncharted cleansing river inside the brain.  It is believed that this stream coursing through the nervous system is capable of helping clear the brain of toxic detritus.  The fluid stream is capable of flushing down the drain buildup of amyloid proteins associated with Alzheimer's, Huntington's, and other neurodegenerative disorders.

Scientists report several surprises in the cranial cleansing system study.  One surprise includes jets of cerebrospinal fluid passageways coursing through the brain.  Never before had scientists known the brain was capable of flushing larger size particles down the drain.  Another surprise was to learn that nearly 40% of the fluid is actually recycled back to the brain.

The researchers, based at the University of Rochester (U.R.), University of Oslo and Stony Brook University, describe this new system in the journal Science Translational Medicine. The study adds to the evidence that the star-shaped cells called astrocytes play a leading role in keeping the nervous system in good working order.

The brain's major energy reserve is located in astrocytes.  Research is showing the energy demands of activated astrocytes is high and very complex which causes a rise in consumption of blood glucose and oxygen.  A mismatch of glucose and oxygen gives strong support to the hypothesis for causing and compounding oxidative stress.

These astrocyte star-shaped cells provide support to the neurons of the central nervous system, the brain, and spinal cord that are linked to the excitatory neurotransmission system.  Protection of the astrocytes cells is of paramount importance to human health.

Astrocytes under oxidative stress are known to turn from nurturers to killers causing motor and mental neuron dysfunction leading to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, ALS, and other neurodegenerative diseases.

Ability to overcome oxidative stress is monumental in human health, slowing down the aging process, and maintaining mental clarity.  Evidence is conclusive that the sugar Trehalose strengthens and protects cell membrane from oxidative stress.  Other Smart Sugars, especially mannose, modulate the immune system and contribute to helping overcome oxidative stress.

SlimJim weighed in at 439 pounds.  He has served as the webmaster for The Endowment for Medical Research, Inc for six years.  So, he knew about the science and he successfully lost 80 pounds.  He gained most of the weight back because he never met food he didn’t like and his fruit intake came from blueberry filled donuts.  His target weight is 220 to become (his words not mine), “half the man I used to be.”

SlimJim weighed in at 439 pounds.  He has served as the webmaster for The Endowment for Medical Research, Inc for six years.  So, he knew about the science and he successfully lost 80 pounds.  He gained most of the weight back because he never met food he didn’t like and his fruit intake came from blueberry filled donuts.  His target weight is 220 to become (his words not mine), “half the man I used to be.”

Jim and his wife, Sue, invited Karen and me over to watch Kungfu Panda 2 on the big screen Saturday evening (7/7/2012).  Jolly Jim exhibits the stature, personality, and mannerism of Kungfu Panda.

Just before we arrived, Sue called.  Jim was not responding to her questions, was dropping things and knocking things to the floor as he was, in slow-motion, flailing through the house.  Her fear was that he was having a stroke.

When we arrived, it was apparent that Jim had lost much of his motor skills.  He tried to scribble a note but scribble was all he could do before he dropped his pen.  His continence was mindless bewilderment as I took him by the hand, and said firmly, “We are going to the hospital.  Come on, get in the car.”

After a few minutes, he crawled into the back seat of our TownCar and we headed to Northwest Memorial.  Tests showed Jim’s blood sugar was 771.  He doctor thought he was having a diabetic ketonic attack (too little insulin for the amount of glucose).

Before Jim was released seven days later, the doctor told him the mortality rate is 80% for patients with symptoms that serious.  His doctors insist that surgery is the only option to reduce his weight and no longer be diabetic.  Jim, is tenaciously determined to show them that there is a better way.

His doctors are amazed that his other vital signs, organs, and arteries were excellent.  Jim unquestionably contributes these good signs to a regimen of good nutrition including Smart Sugars and God’s Grace.  To celebrate Father’s Day at Red Lobster, he ate a dozen scrumptious cheddar bay biscuits followed by a big meal topped off with a  decadently delicious dessert.  He was overdosing on carbohydrates that produced spiking glucose and high triglycerides. 

Jim is now fully committed to taking solid sound scientific action toward fat loss while gaining better health in the process.  We believe good nutrition and Smart Sugars saved Jim’s life.  He learned from this dramatic event that it’s not good to dump junk food into the feeding trough.

Jim’s near death experience prompted me to write Smart Sugars Lesson #64 titled, Smart Sugars and Your Triglyceride Battle with the subtitle, Getting down to the real CAUSE for FAT GAIN and what to do about it.

Jim has started his journey to renewed health.  He is already able to back off much of his insulin by maintaining a consistently low glucose level, and is working on lowering his triglycerides.  You see, Jim just learned from Lesson #64 that high triglycerides cause chaos with the transporting and processing of fat and glucose in and out of the liver.

His doctors are astounded that he has recovered and improved so quickly with consistency of his tight low sugar count.  They said, “This does not happen!”  They will continue to closely monitor his progress.

Getting down to the real CAUSE for FAT GAIN and what to do about it.

The “answer” to FAT GAIN is on magazine covers everywhere you turn.  But, few know the CAUSE for fat gain!  In one word, it is TRIGLYCERIDES.  Triglycerides impact your body and is the CAUSE for fat gain.  Sugar consuming humans have a glucose metabolism challenge and an ongoing triglyceride battle.

A high triglyceride level makes it impossible to lose weight.  Triglycerides are lipids that facilitate the bi-directional transfer of blood glucose and adipose fat through the liver.  Balance is the key.  High triglycerides cause chaos with the bi-directional conversion of adipose fat and blood glucose.

Lipids are fatty structural molecules with the primary biological functions for storing energy, building cell membranes, and when sugar(s) are added, to make glycolipids to serve as important signaling molecules inside the cell.

Accelerated fat loss for the obese is experienced when they lower their triglycerides and keep them under 150 mg/dL which is considered normal.  Over 200 is high and 500 is very high.

The raging fat battle is between good fats and bad fats, good sugars and bad sugars.  Saturated fats (bad fat) along with bad sugars result in high plasma levels of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins which produce glucose intolerance leading to diabetes.  Food and drink high in bad sugars cause increased triglyceride levels.  These foods are converted into triglycerides and are stored in the adipose tissue, or fat cells.

Obesity is normally based on the amount of body fat in the form of adipose tissue. Adipose (meaning fat depot) fat, or tissue, is the loosely connective tissue composed of adipocytes primarily located beneath the skin, but is also found around internal organs.  Adipose fat stores energy and cushions and insulates the body.

High triglycerides indicate a metabolic disorder with the lipo-glucose conversion process. In such cases, the conversion process between blood glucose and adipose fat is impaired, resulting in a buildup of triglycerides. This can be a difficult condition to overcome and does not respond well to diet and exercise.  Inability to lose fat with diet and exercise is the cause for frustration and abandonment of all hope for many.

High triglyceride levels can produce LDL (bad) cholesterol and can quickly cause cardiovascular and pancreatic problems.  When LDL and total cholesterol are high, the root cause is most likely high triglycerides.  More people are recognizing that statin drugs are not the answer and may cause even more serious problems.

Polyunsaturated fat, (the good fat) as Omega-3, has been shown to lower triglycerides by balancing blood sugar, reducing inflammation, and helping to regulate metabolism. Exactly how this happens is not yet clear, but we understand that Omega-3 decreases lipid synthesis (lipogenesis) and may allow the hormone leptin to work better which researchers have linked to how fast fat is burned.

Certain good sugars including Trehalose help construct quality glycolipids inside the cell while other Smart Sugars are the building blocks for glycoprotein receptor sites that coat the surface of human cells for proper communication.  Cellular communication allows our bodies to know and to take action toward fulfilling the exact need of each cell.

Research confirms that Trehalose can inhibit fat cell hypertrophy (cell enlargement) and prevent metabolic syndrome which induces insulin resistance that leads to type 2 diabetes.
