Three Possible Reasons for Pain, Tingles, And Discomfort

by JC Spencer

Pain is a warning sign and the level of pain may indicate the seriousness of the cause. There are three principle causes for pain in your physical body. The severity of the alert is designed to tell us which action to take.

When our only action is to mask the pain, we miss the reason for the pain. Of course, we want the pain to turn to pleasure or at the very least for the pain to go away. But, don’t give up on finding the cause. It can save and extend your life.

When we only treat (mask) the symptom instead of addressing the cause, we have mimicked the mind-set of mainstream medicine. Our astute warning system is to let us know in advance when something worse than the pain will happen and that we are to take action to correct the challenge. We receive clear warning signals but our inability to translate the signals into knowledge for action can be fatal.

The more obvious the cause for the pain the better we can respond. Trauma is the most obvious and demands immediate response. The US medical system is the best in the world (if you don’t include Israel) when it comes to trauma care.

We are less sensitive to devastating health problems. Our medical establishment is not as well equipped for sickness care as for trauma care. In fact, the best place to catch some diseases is in the hospital. Any pain not inflected by trauma may be a warning of pending inflammation which is the final cause of health related deaths. Inflammation is the final cause of death from most traumas.

Throbbing pain in joints and organs or a soreness of the muscles are probably indications of inflam-mation. A pinched nerve, improper alignment, or irritation to any part of your body is the cause for the pain and can develop into a serious inflammation problem if not addressed by you or your immune system. When your immune system is modulated and strong, it will better address the cause, be it a low immune challenge or an auto-immune problem.

The third cause for pain, tingle, discomfort, itch, passing excessive gas, or signal felt in the body is a warning of some kind about an external danger for which you need to be prepared. Is there a pending storm? Many people have increased joint pain prior to bad weather. Does the inflammation increase just before the storm or can it be that your system is detecting the change in the ions in the air of the coming storm?

The feeling, the pain, the tingle, or low level sensation is a mystery, that when solved, will allow us to better know our bodies and needs. The communication system of your cells, your body, and your brain is operated by special arrangement of Smart Sugars.

Glycoscientists are learning that these Smart Sugars determine the very health of the your cells and their ability to address infections, help dump the toxins, and protect you from the storm or dangerous conditions that could take your breath away. The early warning signs are present and danger is ahead. It may be chronic or slowly progressing. Regardless of the road ahead, it is much better that we take care of the important instead of waiting until it is urgent.

Everett A. “Nick” Nichol - August 16, 1927 - December 17, 2012

by JC Spencer

Nick was a close friend and confidant for more than fifty years. His family asked me to conduct his funeral. On December 21, 2012, the winter solstice, end of the Mayan calendar, the day many thought the world would end, I related to family and friends the following:

I loved Nick like a brother for over half a century and yet we were on opposite ends of the political and religious spectrums. Nick and I became friends in 1961 shortly after I returned from a photographic expedition in Africa and moved to Houston from Missouri. He owned a camera store in Pasadena and we worked together for many years processing film, printing giant quality Agfa color photographs for display and publication, and developing scientific breakthroughs in light and color.  Nick was what I called a studious perfectionist of color and graphics and a philosophical pragmatist in life.

Nick loved his family of three girls, son, and grandchildren. His son, Don, died in December when he was only 18 and his wife passed one year ago in December. He and Marie were married for 61 years.

In all my years of knowing Nick, I never saw him angry and we never argued. We had many interesting debates but we never argued. Some traumatic event happened when he was a small boy that turned him against God. I mentioned that fact to him which he acknowledged was true, but he never told me nor his family what that event was. It may be that Nick blamed God that his father died when he was only two. But, it was probably a trusted relative that in some way hurt him.

In the late 60s or early 70s, I remember Nick arrived at my home around 9 o’clock and asked me what I had been doing that morning. I responded, “I have been back in our bedroom on my knees praying for you and God has given me assurance and a peace that you will accept Jesus as your personal Saviour before you die.” Desiring to immediately change the subject, he pointed to a book on the table and asked what it was about. He pointed to the book “Taste of New Wine” which was written by a Texas businessman and Episcopal layman, Keith Miller. “The book challenges indifference and creates an exciting sense of spiritual renewal and adventure. He doesn’t write with religious jargon but he has experienced the real presence of God and has given his heart to the Lord Jesus.”

Nick said, “I have been here three minutes and I get all this already.” The rest of the day was quite harmonious as we continued on with the business at hand.

One day, he asked me why did I believe the Bible.  When I said, “Because I want to.”, he replied that he could not argue with that. He thought I was going to defend my position with some long theological dissertation. For more than five decades, he would probe my mind of spiritual matters. He knew that I was not the judge and that I accepted him where he was. We agreed on a lot of things. We agreed that politicians would soon be extinct if they were hemmed in by truth.

After his son died, Nick went to church for a while but soon dropped out. He told me that the reason he did not go to church was that the church was filled with hypocrites. My response to his pragmatic conclusion was, “Nick, if a hypocrite comes between you and God, it only means that he is closer to God than you are.”

He explained to me that “religion” is the curse of the planet. I am sure he was shocked at my response, “Religion IS the problem.” Then I added, “We should not seek after religion. We are to seek a relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”

Today we celebrate the life of Nick Nichol. Today is the shortest day of the year, our winter solstice, the day the Mayan calendar ended.  It was not because they ran out of stone. The calendar ended on December 21, 2012 because today is a significant day in the heavens. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where the voice of the heavens is not heard.” (Psalm 19:1-3). Over the years, when Nick would repeatedly declare there is no God, I would point to the heavens and ask him if he thought all that just happened. How many years would you have to shake a box containing all the parts of a watch before a watch would appear?

The universe is a perfectly timed clock from one end of heaven to the other. Nick saw that. I would have loved to have discussed with Nick the significance of this day. The position of the constellations this day was mentioned in the Bible and perfectly matches the Mayan calendar as the end of a cycle and the beginning of the next. We are entering a new time and God is getting ready to do a new work. I do not pretend to understand all that is ahead but we are living in the most exciting time in all history and children will play a significant role in what is ahead.

Woven into our personal relationship was our mutual love for photography, technology, and many things in science in general. Together we developed color technology and implemented it into practice. We developed a lighting technique for color photography that had never been done before. We had lots of fun with it and Nick taught me a new word, “ACTINIC”. We developed a lighting technique that was a higher actinic quality than sunlight. With this process we were able to bring out colors in film you could not see with the naked eye. The high actinic quality of light revealed wood grains and oils of master art pieces invisible to the human eye and allowed us to capture that brilliance on film. Nick relished in what we were able to accomplish.

With the light source which we called the “atomic flash” we learned how to capture color and detail in interior and exterior architecture that seemed to break the laws of physics. In truth, we were using an unwritten Law of Light. With one flash, we could light any size building from top to bottom, left to right for hundreds of feet without loss of exposure. For interior pictures, we learned how to light and photograph a room full of objects including tables and chairs without having a shadow behind a single table or chair leg.  It was the actinic quality of the light that was more important than the amount of light. The intensity of light, captured on film, immediately in front of the camera was the same as a hundred feet away. To achieve this “impossible feat,” only one f-stop would work. And, only one light source flash would work. It was vital that the light go through a tiny precise aperture. And, two sources of light would destroy the image and result in an out-of-focus picture.

Our lighting technique opened many a theological and biblical discussion. “Nick did you know the Bible mentions there are no shadows in heaven? God’s Light is the highest actinic quality of perfection. We are but little candles but when the Holy Spirit fills us, the Light in us can reach the whole world.”

Nick was strong willed, consistent, dependable, not quick to change, very stubborn, and exercised a level of patience from which we could all learn. He chain smoked and would probably have died a number of years sooner had he not quit smoking.  He stopped simply by self-will. He taught me computers and was patient with me when I became frustrated. Before computers, we had a bank of upright electric typewriters operated with pneumatic tubes and the program was a yellow roll of piano paper. To correct an error required Scotch tape and a hole puncher. Together Nick and I pioneered some interesting things in science. Our first mobile phone was rotary dial.

I gave Nick the book, Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis. He never mentioned if he read it or not. We discussed that C. S. Lewis led J. R. R. Tolkien to faith in Jesus which gave birth to The Lord of the Rings and his other works.

It was perhaps in the 52nd year of our relationship that I told Nick that I felt strongly that his grandmother had prayed for his salvation. He responded, “And my mother.”

Sunday afternoon December 16, 2012, I headed to Webster to visit my wife’s 97 year old mother. I planned to stop by and visit Nick and perhaps take him out to a nearby restaurant as we had done so many times.  We loved to have meals together and had many breakfasts at Kelly’s, Denny’s, and The Egg & I. One morning as I joined him for breakfast, I said, "Nick, I just learned the secret to all future blessings. Would you like to guess what it is?"

Nick responded, "If I believed, I would say it is, 'Thank you Lord.'"

I started to call Nick on my cell when I noticed that I had missed a call from him. His daughter, Anita, answered the phone and I told her that I was headed over to see Nick. “How is he doing?”

She told me that it was good that I was coming over. He was active even yesterday but had taken a nose-dive after the doctor diagnosed him with advanced leukemia and an eight-centimeter brain tumor. He was not expected to live more than a few hours. His daughter, Nikki, was flying in from Nashville and would be here around 6 o’clock and he was holding on until she got there. I told Anita to tell him I was on my way and for him to wait until I got there.

Nick was setting in a recliner in the living room and was in and out of consciousness. I took his hand. The next hour was precious as Anita, Tony, and I told him he was loved. “It is time for you to ask Jesus to welcome you with open arms,” I said. Anita said, “Tony talked with him about that and we believe he has already done that.” There was silence to absorb the content of what I just heard.

Then I recalled to him the time I was visiting a Houston medical doctor by the name of John Nance who had suffered a heart attack and was in the hospital. I had told Nick the story before but it was worth repeating at this time.

I asked Dr. Nance if he had ever accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour. He responded, “I’m not worthy.” I told him that I wasn’t worthy either but salvation is a gift. He said, “But you don’t understand. I killed a quarter of a million people. I’m the one who dropped bombs on cities in Germany in World War II and I killed a quarter of a million people. I’m not worthy.”

“John,” I said, “the thief on the cross certainly was not worthy either but he turned to Jesus as he was dying and said ‘Jesus, remember me.’”

As tears streamed down the face of Dr. Nance and my face, he said, “Jesus, remember me.” That is how simple it is. God loves us right where we are and he loves us so much that He will not leave us where we are. After recalling this experience to Nick, I hugged his neck and told him how much he was loved. Nikki had just landed at Hobby Airport and would soon arrive. I believe it was at this point that Nick nodded that he knew she was coming to be with him. I wanted to leave so they could be together.

To the daughters I mentioned that Karen and I had given their father the book, “Heaven Is For Real” about Colton Burpo who experienced heaven and returned with many confirming evidences that heaven is for real. Innocent children will lead many into the Kingdom because their words are pure and profound. I asked if Nick had read the book. They said “Yes, he read the book and so did we.”

I held Nick’s hand in mine and prayed with him and the family, thanking God for the peace and love that filled the room. Providence had brought Nick and me together over half a century ago because of the prayers of a godly mother and grandmother. “Thank you Father for Nick’s praying mother and grandmother. Thank you that today their prayers are answered.”

Nick rested during the night and breathed his last breath at 8:24 Monday morning December 17, 2012.
How Smart Sugars can help.
(Previously entitled: Tell Me Again Why We Should Not Eat Pork)

by JC Spencer

When I was a boy on a Missouri farm, I looked at our herd of swine as garbage disposals to grow sugar cured hams and tasty bacon. In the smoke house, I would cure the hams and slabs of bacon. I rubbed them with, and packed them in, curing salts made of brown sugar and salt. One day, a thief stole what he knew would be some mighty good eatin’. After that, I put the smoke house under lock and chain.

My pragmatic mind sought for the scientific reason of WHY swine was “unclean”. So over the years, I did mental gymnastics with everything I learned about pigs. A bell would go off in my head when I heard the expression from the lips of a person who had exercised or worked hard, “I’m sweating like a pig!” because I knew pigs did not have sweat glands. That was my second clue.

The first clue was “garbage disposal” and other clues developed when I saw pigs eating anything, and I mean anything, that was dead. They would root for and eat a grain of corn in the worst of filth while wallowing in the mud. I was amused that the one thing pigs would not eat was beautiful vine ripened tomatoes. They will only eat tomatoes after they are rotten.

My daddy taught me that the hog was one animal that could not look up. He told me that, “It has a stiff neck and cannot see the sky, the heavens, the stars. It can only see the mud and filth that it calls home.”

The pig has a basic and fast digestive system. Normally in less than four hours its food is digested. Toxins permeate pig fat from rotten food and garbage and the toxins are there to stay. It is not a good thing that it has no sweat glands to help remove the poisons.

According to Dr. Josh Axe, the CDC confirms that more than 100 viruses come to US each year via pigs from China which is the world’s largest producer of pork. The H1N1 (swine flu) virus is a serious threat to human health. Hog meat is loaded with toxins and parasites which are not easily removed even by cooking well done. The larvae of the trichinella spiralis roundworm is the major concern of eating pork. Trichinellosis is epidemic in the Orient.

Trichinella live in the cysts of the pig’s stomach and survives the acids. The female worm produces some 1,500 larvae that hatch, and make their way into the lymphatic system where they can be transported throughout the body before consumed by humans. Once in the human body these hairlike worms can start the cycle again where they can settle in muscle tissue, grow into coils, develop protective cysts and, unless abated, populate growing parasite communities. Or, they may lie dormant in the human body for 25 years.

Trichinellosis is a serious human illness that causes aching joints, muscle pain, heart problems, breathing challenges, swollen eyes, coughing spells, headaches, fever, chills, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. As if that is not enough, a few additional contaminants you should be concerned about in pig meat include, but are not limited to, Taenia solium tapeworms, Menangle viruses, Nipah viruses, and Hepatitis E viruses.

If you are eating or have eaten bottom feeders from land or sea, there are two things you should consider: One: Stop it. And two: Take wise and appropriate action to detox and de-worm. Modulate your immune system so your body can take control.

Over the years I have gone through detox a number of times that resulted in serious cleansing. I recall the three times that I pushed through “healing crises” with flu-like symptoms. An introductory detox may be found in the Lemonade Diet protocol which we have used a few times. The little yellow Lemonade Diet book is available at health food stores.

Since the mid-1990s my wife and I have continued a daily regimen of Smart Sugars which I discuss at length in my books and articles. Glycoscience studies support sugar benefits for obtaining and maintaining healthier organs and cells throughout the human body. We credit Smart Sugars for improved health, sustained health, and the fact that neither of us take any medication and never expect to need drugs.

Q:   Can science be wrong?
A:   Science is FACTUAL and RIGHT but our understanding and consensus of science is always less than perfect.

What we view and how we view what we view gives us the data to determine our choices and responses to that observation. Choices are easy to make when you have all the facts and the moral compass to proceed.

Science is not fiction. Science fiction is fiction. All my life I have enjoyed both science and science fiction. Sometimes you can mix the two with creative thought to project what can be. Like in 1956, I wrote a paper entitled “Mouse Milk Cures Cancer”.

That little science+fiction paper was half a century before I learned anything about glycobiology. In fact, that was 32 years before the word glycobiology was coined at Oxford University. Now, we know that human mother’s milk contains Smart Sugars that build the baby’s immune system and provide the building blocks for the cellular communications for the body.

Science is the study of facts gained through observation of the design and function of a system. Gaining systematic knowledge of the design and function of any system is open ended and inexhaustible. The study has infinite possibilities due to the fact that no system stands alone. Each system is a part of other influential systems ranging in size from the subatomic universe to the vastness of the whole universe. And, each system has many internal systems until you reach the far side of infinity.

Consensus is an attempt to bring equilibrium to chaos or maintain control over a situation by individual opinions modified to be unified. Consensus is incapable of changing a single law of science by decree, even by unanimous acclamation. Consensus is political and easily corrupted as untruths are forced into play in the struggle for success. Human nature is to misbehave when not constrained by law or moral compass.

Science is based on fact. Consensus is based on opinion at the time and will not withstand the testing of time. Man’s opinion of science does not change science. Science is what IS. Consensus is man’s opinion of what IS is. Consensus normally develops from emotion pretending to be logic.

Man’s view does not change the situation. Man’s view of a diamond is determined through which facet he peers and the light available at the time. The science of the human body reveals some 70 trillion living cells and over 700 trillion other life forms which are along for the ride as parasites, bacteria, and viruses. The common communication system of the whole batch is constructed of Smart Sugars. Our health, starting with our immune system depends on these sugars. Glycoscience will soon be taught in our schools and tomorrow’s scientists will build upon the intellectual foundation put in place during the last two decades.

How we view glycoscience will determine our response. Big Pharma looks at glycoscience as the gravy train worth billions of dollars because it can improve drugs to treat symptoms more effectively. So, they are frantically designing new drugs using synthesized Smart Sugars. The Energy Lords look to glycoscience as a potential inexhaustible renewable energy. They are busy taking ownership of fuel alternatives to use or to prohibit.

The public is learning about glycoscience and are beginning to ask, “Why not just eat these sugars as natural plant sourced food?” Glycoscience is irrefutably a disruptive science. Consensus of governments, Big Pharmas, and Energy Lords will struggle with how to manipulate and control the science that today the public can simply enjoy the improved health benefits.

Each day we learn something new. I just learned that membranes isolated from mouse milk fat globules contain enzymes responsible for production of mannose. Mannose is one of the truly Smart Sugars capable of curing cancer. It was the mannose sugar that eradicated cancer in the poultry population.  Every baby chicken in the US was vaccinated with a small amount of USDA approved mannose laced in the shots.

False signals, sooner or later, develop into chaos. Lack of any communication is more trust worthy than miscommunication. False signals make it so you do not know where you are going and that is where you are likely to end up.

Your neurons are HARD WIRED for Truth, and Truth is what holds all things together. A few years ago I wrote these words: Total Truth gives no false signals. The flow of even the slightest false witness gives the wrong signal and initiates the flow of wrong energy and matter. Opinions do not count as Truth. Because nothing is as it appears, what you perceive as reality is in fact, at least in part, an illusion. Untruth is an illusion paralleled with deception.

The main function between components and systems is to flow Truth (no false signals), energy, and matter needed by the other components and systems.

The mind is a wonderful thing to not waste. When your brain believes wrong is right, it will sincerely make the wrong choice. I call that negative faith operating on false data.

A hypochondriac may develop an illness in an otherwise healthy body. The brain obeys the constant signals of welcoming illness because it becomes convinced that the signal is Truth. Not only is the hypochondriac affected by this hidden lie, but others as well, including the family, friends, and community. Any untruth almost always affects many people.

Researchers in brain function at the California Institute of Technology have discovered the region of the brain where struggles with emotion takes place. This published university research helps substantiate that, indeed, Your neurons are HARD WIRED for Truth. The researchers used the fairness, struggles with emotion to find equitable solutions.  They pinpointed the region of the brain where this concept of fairness is processed, the insular cortex, or insula, which is also the seat of emotional reactions.

"The fact that the brain has such a robust response to unfairness suggests that sensing unfairness is a basic evolved capacity," notes Steven Quartz, an associate professor of philosophy at Caltech and author of the study.

We have developed a pathway to improve brain function with Smart Sugars that are the building blocks for the Operating System (OS) of the brain and every cell of your body.  Communication between cells is the responsibility of the Smart Sugars.  However, the choice of morality, the choice of Truth is left up to the individual.  Truth is hardwired into the brain.

Should you go against Truth, your whole body knows and responds with a compounding stress level.  Stress causes aging and the need to improve the immune system.  Again, this is what Smart Sugars do.

Plant saccharides metabolize to form glycoproteins in the human body.

by JC Spencer

Smart Sugars, orally ingested, result in glycosylation to glycoprotein receptors sites on Human Cells.  An open-label dosing study was done to evaluate the safety and impact of a dietary plant-derived polysaccharide supplement on the N-glycosylation status of serum glycoproteins in healthy subjects.

The functional role of dietary carbohydrates in nutrition is one of the most complex and at times controversial areas in nutritional science.  Biologists, glycobiologists and neuroscientists had long questioned if the consumption of specific sugars had any glycosylation benefits.  Their doubt of efficacy was based on the digestive destruction of the sugars before they could have benefit in the human body.  Any and all doubt was removed by this study.  Confirmation that these sugars are not destroyed by the digestive system is also evident in every nursing baby because the same sugars are at work in colostrum and mother’s breast milk.

The source for this report comes from Sir Joseph Hotung Centre for Musculoskeletal Disorders, Division of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, St George's University of London, London, UK.  In-vitro and in-vivo studies suggest that certain dietary saccharide biopolymers can have bifidogenic and or immunomodulatory effects, and that some could represent preferential substrates or precursors that can impact cellular glycosylation.

This open-label study was in two phases: pilot study (n=6 individuals) to assess safety and dose, and a larger study (n=12) to evaluate specific glycosylation changes. Serum N-glycosylation profiles, using mass spectrometry, were monitored at weekly intervals, for 7 weeks, to evaluate baseline levels and normal fluctuations. The individuals were then monitored for a further 7 weeks, during which time increasing doses of the glyconutritional complex was ingested (1.3-5.2 g/day).

No adverse events were encountered. The polysaccharide supplementation resulted in distinct changes in the relative intensities of seven biantennary N-glycans (P<0.001), and a significant overall shift towards increased sialylation.  Regression analysis revealed a dose-dependent decrease in mono- and di-galactosylated structures (coefficient -0.130 decrease/week: P=0.02 and -0.690: P=0.005), and a concomitant increase in disialylated glycans ( × 1.083: P<0.05).

Conclusion of the supplementation with the dietary plant-derived polysaccharides resulted in verifying significant changes in serum protein N-glycosylation in healthy individuals. Exactly how glycosylation occurs is ongoing research programs in many universities.  Also, much research is required to evaluate biological significance.

Leading U.S. Government agencies have assembled a stellar group of glycoscientists who formed a committee to develop the roadmap for the future of glycomics.  The project title is Transforming Glycoscience.  Glycosylation is now recognized paramount to medical research by NIH, FDA, NSF, the National Academy of Sciences, and the National Research Council.

They were once handsome and beautiful young men and women.  Facial features decay before your eyes as a few years of time is time-lapsed into a few seconds.  Graphic morphing reveals the devastating toll toxins take on human lives.

Mug shots morph from one to another that show shocking deterioration of the face.  The photographs were compiled of drug users who were  arrested repeatedly over the years. The continued drug use resulted in horrific damage to the drug users' skin.

As the toxins destroy the brain, the drug user may experience uncontrollable scratching during a hallucination when the addict imagines bugs are crawling under their skin.  The shocking physical transformation can be seen in the faces of drug users hooked on the horror that is killing them.  “Meth mouth,” as it is sometimes called, causes teeth decay and grinding.  This results in gaunt accelerated by malnutrition which leads to consumption of muscle tissue for survival nourishment.

Deputy Bret King from  the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon began to witness the physical transformation that occurred in methamphetamine addicts.  He started tracking mug shots of people who were repeatedly brought in to police custody.  He decided to compile the photos for an anti-drug campaign and to educate children on the realities of drug abuse.

The short video you are about to witness was produced from mug shots in the Oregon police files.  After clicking on the link found in the references, scroll down to view the video.  Other videos produced from evidence found in the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office include “From Drugs to Mugs” and “Face of Meth” which show the impact of hard drugs including cocaine, heroin and meth.

Toxins of every kind can quickly alter the brain, alter gene expression, and destroy a life.  On the other end of the mental spectrum are the benefits of Smart Sugars which scientists are discovering can improve brain function, positively alter gene expression and may so improve the quality of life that life itself may be lengthened.

Smart Sugars are found in nature. These same are also found in mother’s breast milk. They are vital building blocks for life starting at conception to cause brain function, improve brain function, facilitate fetal development, and enable you to think better throughout life. Ardythe Luxion Morrow, PhD, Msc., is one of the foremost authority on these sugars with published articles in Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Pediatrics, Glycobiology, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and other major journals.

Mystery why men worsen more than women from soft drinks

by JC Spencer

HFCS and other harmful sweeteners in soft drinks cause fat gain and health challenges.  But, a recent Harvard study indicates that arthritis of the knees is not caused just by extra weight you are carrying around.

Researchers at Harvard speculate that other ingredients in soda pop along with the sugars compound the damage to bone health.  Carbonic acid requires action to counteract its damaging potential of removing minerals from the blood, tissue, and bones.  Phosphoric acid interferes with calcium absorption and needs to also be counteracted.  High fructose corn syrup feeds the acids and adds more challenges to bone health.  Acids increase oxidation and more free radicals may be released adding stress to the cells.  So, the bad sugars are not alone.  They have accomplice.

A more alkaline system is desired for better health and may be achieved from less acid input and by bicarbonate input but that is much different than adding carbon dioxide to the water or soft drink.  Carbonated water containing phosphorus which can interfere with the metabolism of calcium and contribute to leaching calcium from your bone.

A Harvard researcher found that soda pop consumption is associated with bone fractures in teenage girls.  However, it is yet to be fully understood why men have worsen osteoarthritis and pain from soft drinks than do women.  The sex hormones apparently play an unseen role.

Tooth enamel damage and decay dramatically increase in those who drink carbonated drinks.  The decay is believed to be primarily due to sugar content, but assisted by the carbonation.  The carbonic, phosphoric, and citric acids are all potentially harmful to tooth enamel which dissolves in an acid pH under 5.2.

Over a four year period, the researchers examined 2,149 osteoarthritis patients - 3,066 knees - and surveyed them about the frequency of their non-diet soft drink consumption.  After factoring in excess weight and other risk factors for knee osteoarthritis, they discovered that men who drank five or more soft drinks a week had a greater progression of arthritis by a 2 to 1 ratio compared to men who did not drink soda pop.

Osteoarthritis of the knee is prevalent in about 1 in 100 people.  When the cartilage in the joint wears down it increases friction that causes pain. The increased stress to the joints often leads to physical disability and even joint replacement.

A lady that I know experienced serious knee problems for lack of cartilage and had difficulty walking much less climbing stairs.  The challenge within a few months disappeared as her hormones were brought into more of a balance and Smart Sugars replaced the bad sugars.  She could climb stares without a problem and without the cracking sound her knees had previously made.

Sugars in soft drinks can become unknowingly addictive as they feed alcohol and acid in the system.  It was remarkable to find a healthy sweetener that actually reduces the sugar crave and that is healthful by protecting the cells from stress.  I and many others have experienced added benefits from the sugar Trehalose.

But, drug company money is undermining real science.

by JC Spencer

The public is choosing to look outside the pill box and become educated and inspired with evidence based science.  Patients and their families are more informed today and are demanding that hospitals and physicians provide or, at least, allow access to other solutions.

Integrative “medicine” is where Complementary and Alternative practices (CAM) along with good nutrition are utilized with Conventional therapy.  This is an exciting trend in healthcare and includes functional foods.

“Integrative” opens up a wide range of hopeful solutions to choose from, from real to fringe to fraud.  Good nutrition and Glycoscience are growing in acceptance and practice because that are proven to be self-evident.

Scientific American (11/2012) in an article entitled, How Drug Company Money Is Undermining Science, reported how huge sums of money undermine medicine and how pharmaceutical companies shroud their deviancy in secret.  Charles Seife, states in his article, “In the past few years the pharmaceutical industry has come up with many ways to funnel large sums of money - enough sometimes to put a child through college - into the pockets of independent medical researchers who are doing work that bears, directly or indirectly, on the drugs these firms are making and marketing.”

A 2010 study published in the British Medical Journal, showed 87% of the researchers who gave the diabetes drug Avandia “favorable reviews” (although evidence indicated that it might increase the risk of heart attacks) had financial involvement with the manufacturer.  When the FDA committee debated whether or not to pull Avandia from the market because of the heart attack risk, it was revealed that members of the committee, also, had received money from drug companies.

Billions of dollars in wasteful spending and development of harmful drugs have undermined real science and brought us to the economical cliff of the most expensive healthcare system in the world where 71 countries are ahead of US in overall quality of health.  But, don’t expect anybody to stop the scandals.  Deceptions will increase.  Your doctor may not be to blame, he or she was probably spoon fed education from the pharmaceutical industry.  More than ever, the general public is helping educate medical professionals who aspire to better others as well as themselves.

A large percent of the public has lost confidence in the system and are beginning to understand that more money is made in treatment research than in finding cause and cure. The system continues to extend hope for a new discovery tomorrow but the public is not waiting.  They know they must look out for themselves.

Stats from many surveys are “all over the place” but validate that the public is frustrated with traditional medicine.  CAM and nutrition are growing in popularity.  A 1997 survey found 13.7% of respondents in the US sought services of a medical doctor and an alternative medicine practitioner.  A 2002 US adult survey indicated 74.6% had used some form of complementary and alternative medicine.  In 2004, a survey of nearly 1,400 US hospitals found that more than one in four offered CAM therapies.  A 2008 survey of US hospitals by Health Forum, a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association, found that more than 37% of responding hospitals indicated they offer one or more alternative medicine therapies, up from 26.5% in 2005.  More than 70% of the hospitals offering CAM were in urban areas.

Dedicated scientists are making new discoveries outside the pill box which will benefit the human race.  The future of medicine is in Glycoscience.

Glycoscience will go down three pathways:

1) Development of the Gold Standard in diagnostics for measuring and monitoring glycoprotein receptor sites on the surface of cells to determine quality and quantity and thereby understand the health condition of the individual and how long until they get cancer or another disease;

2) Synthesize vital sugars in the lab and incorporate them into expensive drugs to make superior drugs with less side effects; and

3) Consumption of vital sugars found in nature as food to improve glycosylation of glycoproteins to improve human health.  Evidence is mounting that MIT was correct, “Glycoscience will change the way we live.”

Savants and prodigies show us what the brain is capable of achieving.

by JC Spencer

The latent brain of an autistic child has potential just beyond reach.  However, gentle stretching may open a whole new world.  I have been awe struck by the mental capabilities of those whom the world often shuns.  We can learn much from them.

Mental and motor skills of those with autism, Asperger’s syndrome, and other mental challenges span the mental spectrum.  Autistic individuals may have above normal IQ while social skills have a vast range.  The objectives of the family, caregivers, and friends should be to inspire and offer hope and life to the soul of the child such as introducing them to great music.  The latent brain may be that of a savant or prodigy.

Over the years, I have observed and pondered the minds of savants and prodigies who manifest what the brain is capable of achieving.  Allow me to introduce you to five savants.

Kim Peek, the real Rain Man, inspired Dustin Hoffman and crew to make the movie.  He read 8 to 10 books a day with near perfect recall. He knew history and events: world, American, baseball, NASA, the Bible and much more.  He could quote any verse and tell you where that verse was located.  Give him any date and he would tell you on which day of the week it fell.  He knew every zip code of every town in America and memorized phone books for fun.  Kim died in 2009.

Leslie Lemke was the first savant that I observed from his youth.  He was May’s Miracle.  He was adopted by Mary (May) and Joseph Lemke who brought life to his latent brain.  Others called the baby a hopeless blob of flesh.  Blind and speechless, he had to be helped in every step of life.  Then one night, he started playing beautiful music on the piano and later broke out in fabulous vocal impersonation of any singer he chose.  He still performs in public concerts as of 2012 at age 60.

Daniel Tammet can learn a new language in a week and make “impossible” mathematical calculations in his head.  Stephen Wiltshire flies over a city by helicopter and later renders a detailed drawing of the skyline view with remarkable accuracy from memory.  Alonzo Clemons loves to sculpt horses and cattle.  Moldable clay quickly becomes animal likeness in his hands.

These five savants are exceptions, but soon a wave of autistic adults will be exposed to a world unable to meet their needs.  The autistic adult no longer has parents who can provide their vital support.  Studies show that most autistic adults continue to live at home and about a third of them have never had a job or attended school.

This wave of autism struck US about 40 years ago.  The truth is that many autistic individuals are smarter than the average person.  Their brilliance is blocked by expression skills that leave the autistic frustrated and the observer confused.  The CDC, 30 years ago, estimated that there was 1 autistic child for every 500 children.  Today they say that autism has escalated to 1 in 88 children.  Without pinpointing the cause, they admit that it may be an environmental factor.

Autistic children can expect to live a normal life span.  However, there is nothing normal about autism as each person is unique.  It is expected that many will live to be 80 or 90 years of age.  The more challenging time of life for an autistic adult escalates at 20 to 25 years.

At an international autism conference, I sat at the feet of “experts” in the field who basically disagreed with each other.  I do not claim to be the expert in autism but I do know that bad sugars seem to compound negative effects and Smart Sugars seem to have a positive beneficial effect in mental improvements.  Evidence is that toxins, which contribute to mental challenges, can begin to be removed by the polysaccharides.
